Wouldn’t it be great if we were all born with straight teeth? While some people are lucky enough to never need braces, most of us need some type of orthodontic intervention as some point in our lives. And when that time comes, the first thing most of us think about is traditional braces and everything that comes with having a “metal mouth,” such as:
- Uncomfortable metal bands and wires
- Two or more years of treatment time
- Giving up foods we love
- Pain and discomfort after adjustments
- Oral hygiene difficulties
Say Goodbye to Metal Braces & Hello to Invisalign
If traditional braces don’t fit your lifestyle, there’s good news! Straightening teeth has never been easier with today’s newer technologies and Hylan Dental Care of Aurora offers Invisalign, a series of transparent, plastic trays to gradually move the teeth – in half the time of traditional braces.
Other advantages of Invisalign include:
Simplified oral hygiene – The aligners are removable making brushing and flossing easy. There’s no struggling to clean around brackets and wires.
Easy and painless adjustments – Unlike traditional braces that have to be adjusted on a regular basis and often results in pain for a few days, you simply slip in a new set of aligners approximately every few weeks.
No food restrictions – Take the aligners out, and enjoy the foods you want, whenever you want.
They’re comfortable & virtually invisible – The aligners are smooth and made of transparent plastic. They won’t bother you and the best news of all is that no one will even know you’re wearing them!
How Does Invisalign Work?
Once we examine your teeth and takes a series of x-rays, he’ll make a model and create a plan. He’ll then send the x-rays, along with impressions of your teeth to the Invisalign lab where they will be scanned into a computer which will determine the proper tooth movements and create the series of aligners that will be used during your treatment. When you try on your first set of aligners they will feel tight, but that is because they are designed push your teeth into a new position. After a couple of weeks you will come back in and get the next set of aligners and continue the process until your teeth are moved to the desired position. Unlike traditional braces that are worn for two or more years, the Invisalign process takes about six months to a year.
